In daily use of PO plastic bags, we often need to distinguish whether they are made of new materials or old materials (recycled materials). We can quickly identify them through three simple steps: touching, observing and smelling. The specific methods are as follows:
Touch the surface of the plastic bag with your hand. If you can feel an obvious granular texture, and the overall feel is dry, astringent and rough without smoothness, then this plastic bag must be produced with recycled materials (old materials); while the new PO plastic bag feels delicate and smooth, with a flat surface and no granularity, and there is no dry and astringent stuck feeling when touching.
Hold the plastic bag against the light and carefully observe its transparency. If you can see impurities and spots in the bag through the light, and the whole bag looks turbid and opaque, it means it is made of recycled materials; the new PO plastic bag has good transparency, no obvious impurities, and can show a uniform texture when observed against the light without turbidity.
Smell the plastic bag. If it has a pungent odor instead of the normal plastic smell, it is also made of recycled materials. The new PO plastic bag has a faint, normal plastic smell, which is not pungent and will not cause discomfort.
Usually, the plastic bags distributed when we buy vegetables are different from those bought in supermarkets and department stores. The plastic bags in supermarkets and department stores are environmentally friendly, non-toxic and made of new materials. This kind of bag is called a vest bag in the industry, and we call it a shopping bag in daily life.
The raw material of shopping bags is PO material. PO bags have many advantages: they have good tensile strength, high strength and are not easy to deform. Unlike PE bags, which deform as soon as they are pulled, PO bags will not. This makes PO plastic bags have good load-bearing capacity and durability. Another advantage is environmental protection. PO material itself is non-toxic and harmless, and acid and alkali resistant. It is also often used as inner packaging in industries such as electrical appliances and chemical fertilizers.
